From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can expect finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
